Client Showcase, Autumn colours at Bury Court Barn

I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to be Clare & James’ florist for their wedding in October 2022 at Bury Court Barn. Such a lovely couple and I already knew Clare as the sister of a good friend, so no pressure there! It was a wonderful day, and so I wanted to give you all a bit of an inside look at what working with me looks like, as well as share some of the beautiful images they’ve shared with me.

The Consultation

During the consultation process at their lovely home, we chatted through the feel for their day and what their vision was. Over coffee we poured over Pinterest board and discussed colours and schemes they felt would tie the whole event together.

The brief was for warm and pretty seasonal flowers, so autumn blooms such as dahlia, astilbe, rich hydrangeas along with fluffy bunny tails and lots of other gorgeous ingredients were a definite order of the day. Their venue was Bury Court Barn Estate in Farnham, Surrey. It’s set in the beautiful rolling countryside on the Surrey/Hampshire border, and is described as ‘somewhere between heaven and earth’. The venue boasts, beautiful gardens as well as a stunning barn featuring exposed brick, and rustic oak beams. Bury Court Barn seamlessly blends rustic with contemporary modern facilities, which was a perfect match for Clare and James.

The Venue Flowers

For Clare & James’ Wedding Day florals, I sourced many of the flower varieties from my favourite local growers, mixing in some beautiful Dutch blooms too.

Embracing the month of October, I also included mini white pumpkins, conkers, moss and pinecones to really bring the outside world in. The aim was to create a natural, seasonal scheme with lots of colour and texture, and I was able to create some wonderful table-scapes with these pieces for the couple and their guests to admire.

For the ceremony in the main barn, we created a range of floral designs with a collection of rustic crates, rustic urns and candlelight. I mixed the fresh blooms with all of those sumptuous woodland from the lush green carpet moss to the shiny brown conkers, capturing the essence of autumn and creating a welcoming entrance for all their friends and family. These feature pieces were later moved into the reception area to be admired again during the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.

The Bridal Flowers

Clare’s bouquet was packed with texture and soft autumnal colours, just perfect for a sunny October wedding. Their flower girls Rose and Liliana carried posies and wore flower crowns (so cute!) while groomsmen James and Hurley had complimenting buttonholes of spray roses, berries and those lovely fluffy bunny tail grasses. The perfect combination, the perfect weather and overall the perfect day!

The sun shone for Clare, James and their family and I couldn’t have been happier for them both. Such a wonderful day filled with love, warmth and joy. If you are planning a Surrey/Hampshire Barn Wedding and like the sound of what I created here at Bury Court Barn, please do get in touch, I would love to help bring your dream wedding florals to life.

Of course, a wedding isn’t pulled together by just one person, so here’s a list of the other fabulous suppliers who helped Clare and James create their dream wedding day.
